Costa Rica Leader Has Swine Flu

President Óscar Arias of Costa Rica, who is trying to negotiate an end to the political standoff in Honduras, said in a statement late Tuesday he had contracted swine flu. ”Apart from the fever and a sore throat, I feel well and in good shape to carry out my work by telecommuting,” he said. Mr. Arias is one of 865 in Costa Rica who have contracted the H1N1 flu virus, officials said. There have been 28 reported deaths there.
